Through organisational changes, Salford Royal Foundation NHS Trust has run Integra for more than 10 years. Most recently, the Trust has implemented the Integra eSeries with the Integra Catalogue Expert (ICE) as part of a complete eProcurement solution. As a result, the Trust has saved money by streamlining order management, virtually eliminated paper and increased accuracy throughout the procurement process.
Prior to implementing the Integra eSeries eProcurement system, Salford Royal had a core group of staff in the purchasing and supplies department who received paper requests from other staff around the hospital, which were entered manually as a purchase order. Some departments that carried out a lot of ordering, such as theatres and pathology, were also given access to the core system to allow them to enter requisitions directly.
Diane Morrison, Assistant Director of Finance at Salford Royal NHS Foundation Trust, explains why they needed to change, “Our Trust has developed a programme designed to safely reduce costs without impacting front-line services and patient care. We quickly identified the potential cost savings we could achieve through greater automation, in terms of streamlining processes, removing duplication of effort and generally improving the accuracy and efficiency of our procurement requirement.”
Morrison continues, “The manual process of procurement within the hospital was slow and cumbersome. At times approvals were inconsistent and difficult to manage and it took a bit longer than we hoped to deal with urgent queries. This added extra administration layers that we really wanted to remove.”
Salford Royal is enjoying a number of important benefits from the system. “Eradicating paper from the purchasing process has improved our efficiency. Electronic purchasing has made the process much quicker for the end user and has resulted in much more effective and efficient operations. The system has also given us improved standardisation in terms of the products we purchase. Every time an order is placed for a particular product, it is from the same place so it has a consistent description,” says Morrison.
She adds, “The increased efficiency has allowed us to reduce the amount of administration we need to run the procurement system, which has allowed us to safely reduce costs. The system also provides seamless integration with NHS SBS CPS through GHX, which gives them better visibility of our demand.”

Across the public sector, sharing services with other organisations is seen as a positive step forward in this Age of Austerity. Indeed, nearly six in 10 (57.3%) respondents to UKauthorITy and ITU’s research reported a presumption within their organisation in favour of sharing.
The survey of 479 senior executives, directors and officers from across 310 central and local government, police, fire and health organisations, elicited some interesting responses
• Shared services are overwhelmingly seen as an opportunity to cut costs –94.2% either agree or strongly agree with this suggestion.
• More than seven in 10 see opportunities in shared services for innovation; for radical redesign of service delivery and for improvements in service quality.
• A minority of just 5.1% felt that shared services had no benefit for their organisation; and just 5.7% said that their organisation’s needs were unique to the extent that sharing services with others would not be possible.
But is this news? There has long been positive talk of shared services but little progress. Is that really different now? View the ITU Live discussion of these findings click here

West Hertfordshire Hospitals NHS Trust enjoys a rare luxury with its financial management and procurement systems. Since 2003, all the hardware, maintenance, networking and security requirements have been provided by Capita IB Solutions in a comprehensive and cost-effective Managed Services solution. This has provided a host of time and cost savings benefits, including reduced capital expenditure, and has removed the need for specialist IT hardware resources on site.
Earlier in 2011, West Hertfordshire Hospitals NHS Trust agreed a three-year extension to its Managed Services contract with Capita IB Solutions. This covers all the accounting ledgers as well as eProcurement, Invoice Approval, Budgeting and Forecasting, Web Reporting and enquires. As part of the new contract, the Trust has added Business Intelligence and Optical Character Recognition to its portfolio.
Satish Kumar from the Trust explains, the Managed Service allows the Trust to focus on developing the system and optimising it to ensure maximum benefit. "Thanks to the contract we have in place, we can focus all our efforts on our operations without having to worry about the hardware. We know that all updates, patches, technical issues, security and disaster recovery are handled by Capita IB Solutions' team, far more effectively than we could manage them ourselves. The process has always been very reliable, and we enjoy a fast, secure connection to our servers at all times. Updates are carried out over the weekend so they don’t affect our operations."
Satish concludes, "Integra has a very user-friendly system interface, which means users are up and running with the software very quickly. We have been able to integrate the system with other applications, such as the Pharmacy and NHS Logistics systems, so that we can handle their transactions quickly and efficiently. The Managed Services contract allows my department to focus on keeping users happy and also on developing the reporting side of the system. It is a comforting feeling to know that everything is in safe hands."

Higher Intelligence, Better Purchasing
In the drive to minimise expenditure while maintaining service, the NHS faces some big challenges. A massive area for potential efficiency gains is in e-Procurement where the implementation of integrated, web-based purchasing systems can generate huge savings in both time and cost.
These systems can also be used in conjunction with advanced Business Intelligence tools to enable better decision making, based on accurate, real-time data. The University Hospital of North Staffordshire NHS Trust (UHNS) is enjoying these benefits by extending its Integra Financials and eSeries implementation to include the Integra Purchase to Pay (P2P) e-requisitioning system and Integra Business Intelligence (IBI).
In order to increase efficiency and lower the costs associated with purchasing, the UHNS S&P team recently rolled out Integra eSeries and Integra Procure to Pay (P2P) to enable seamless eprocurement across all its organisations.
Gareth Baddley from the UHNS S&P Systems Department says, "As a result, everything we order, in terms of non-stock lines, is now requested electronically and processed through the Integra web basket. In just a few months, the group has achieved electronic processing for 92.7% of all requisitions, with more than 400 requisition access points and over 550 live requisitioners across the organisations. This has been a great achievement and has resulted in time and cost savings across the group. For example, enabling online internal order authorisations has saved over 25,000 sheets of paper per annum."

Budgets are coming under scrutiny across the public sector. The pressure is on to make cuts wherever possible. This is driving many organisations within the NHS and local authorities to look at advanced, integrated budgetary control management systems to ensure they cut costs without impacting service.
The Integra Budgeting and Forecasting module provides a fully-integrated solution that gives organisations control, visibility and a high level of flexibility for spending and financial planning. Through every step of the budgeting process, the module creates seamless workflows to facilitate greater accuracy and faster resolution.
Like many public sector organisations, Mole Valley District Council used Excel spreadsheets held on network drives accessible by managers and accountants onto which data from the accountancy system was downloaded each night.
Brian Stuart explains, "Our previous setup was quite unreliable because the overnight interface between the spreadsheet and the accountancy system would periodically fail. There were also file usage conflicts because there was only one Excel file for each council service, despite several managers holding budgets within any one service. The budgeting module was installed at Mole Valley DC in 2010, and has quickly made a positive difference to how budgets are managed, monitored and controlled."
West Hertfordshire NHS Trust recently implemented the Integra Budgeting and Forecasting module having previously used an alternative system.
Satish Kumar from the Trust comments, "Having a budgeting system that is properly integrated with our financial systems has made a huge difference to the speed with which we can put budgets together and the overall accuracy of them. Our previous system caused a lot of frustration for users, because every change took a long time to calculate. With Integra, data is pulled in seamlessly and complex calculations take an instant."
At North Devon Healthcare NHS Trust, Integra has been the finance management system for more than 15 years. The Trust installed the Budgeting and Forecasting module in 2009, to replace a manual system based on Excel spreadsheets.
Nina Phillips from the Trust explains, "The Budgeting module gives us a robust audit trail of comments and authorisations for each strand of the budget. Once all budgets are ready, they can be uploaded to the General ledger at the press of a button. It is a great tool that has made the whole process much more accurate and far less cumbersome. Users are delighted, and both accountants and managers feel much more confident and in control of the budgets."

Capita IB Solutions, part of the Capita Group and a market leader in providing world-class financial accounting software, e-Procurement and bespoke solutions to service-centric organisations, today announced that Mansfield District Council has signed a five-year contract for the provision of Integra Open Enterprise.
Using the Capita IB Solutions system, Mansfield District Council will streamline its financial processes and make key financial information, including departmental budgets, instantly accessible to authorised staff, improving financial transparency throughout the council.
Linda Miller, Financial Information Systems Manager, said, "Following an extensive and competitive tender process, we selected Capita IB Solutions based on the functionality of its finance and procurement solution. We were initially impressed with the software at the first presentation, and after the second demonstration, it still outshone the others and had a wow factor."
Miller continues, "Capita IB Solutions' experience and success in local government were also important factors in our decision. We believe Integra Open Enterprise is the "best fit" for Mansfield District Council, and the system's advanced functionality and ease-of-use also met all our needs."
The deal is for an end-to-end financial management and purchasing solution, plus a range of additional modules including document imaging (OCR), budgeting, self-service requisitioning and business intelligence.
Linda Miller says, "We had outgrown our previous system. It had been in the organisation a long time and was heavily supported by the extensive use of both manual processes and Microsoft Excel spreadsheets, which are both open to error. We envisage that Integra Open Enterprise will give us much improved automation around these processes, resulting in reliable and timely management information."
"Budgeting and forecasting is also an area we are looking to improve dramatically using Integra Open Enterprise. The new system will facilitate the download of historical data and allow us to upload budget data, resulting in better informed business decisions. Used in conjunction with the electronic procurement functionality, which enables authorised personnel at the council to electronically procure goods, the council will be provided with a robust solution to streamline financial transactions and enable greater financial control."
"Faced with tight budgets and smaller IT departments, councils need intuitive business systems that help them optimise resources, control costs and drive efficiencies," said Eamonn Morris, Managing Director, Capita IB Solutions. "Our applications are proven to help local authorities simplify administration and manage costs, which is critical as providers are facing continual pressures to do more with less."
Morris continues, "Mansfield District Council joins a growing number of organisations replacing their end-of-life business software with Integra, based on our reputation of delivering real business results at the lowest total cost of ownership. The combination of affordable business applications and ease-of-use helps local authorities focus their time on serving their communities."

Integra Budgeting & Forecasting, part of the Integra Financial Management suite from Capita IB Solutions, is helping West Hertfordshire NHS Trust improve decision-making and lower administrative costs by increasing the accuracy and timeliness of the organisation's budget forecasts.
An Capita IB Solutions customer since 2000, West Hertfordshire NHS Trust recently completed the implementation of the Budgeting & Forecasting application following an upgrade to Integra Open Enterprise.
West Hertfordshire Hospitals NHS Trust was formed on 1 April 2000 following the merger of St Albans and Hemel Hempstead NHS Trust and Mount Vernon and Watford NHS Trust. The Trust is one of the largest organisations in West Hertfordshire, employing around 4,000 members of staff, and now sought an automated budgeting system that would more easily communicate with its other business applications and scale to accommodate the needs of the Trust.
Without a standardised and integrated budgeting system, employees faced inefficient, time-consuming approval processes and department-specific formatting requirements, before sending final budget data to finance staff. The Integra Budgeting & Forecasting application will help West Hertfordshire NHS Trust streamline this process by automating budget approvals and providing staff with accurate, up-to-date budget information across the organisation. The application's security will also help ensure that employees access just the information they need.
In addition to improved budget accuracy and reduced administrative time, the system will also help West Hertfordshire NHS Trust enforce cost controls across the organisation so managers can better optimise staff resources and meet efficiency targets.
"Efficient budgeting enables healthcare organisations to reduce administration, drive better-informed business decisions and improve business visibility," said Eamonn Morris, Managing Director for Capita IB Solutions. "Our industry-leading software and healthcare expertise helps customers like West Hertfordshire NHS Trust to simplify the business of healthcare so they can focus on enhancing patient care."

To have achieved this during one of the worst economic times in recent years is a fantastic accomplishment for Capita IB Solutions and only 15% of all UK companies are recognised within this category.
For many years now, the D&B Rating has been recognised as a leading predictive indicator for assessing company risk and prospects. More than 100,000 companies rely on D&B to provide the insight they need to help build profitable, quality business relationships with their customers, suppliers and business partners.
This rating is internationally recognised as an objective indicator of the risk of business failure. The D&B rating is a dynamic score that is continuously updated and reflects the most current situation at a company.

Capita IB Solutions, a market leader in providing world-class financial management, e-Procurement and bespoke solutions to service-centric organisations, has today announced that United Lincolnshire Hospitals NHS Trust has selected iSOFT Business Solutions to provide its Finance and eProcurement solution for the next five years, in a contract worth just under £400,000.
The United Lincolnshire Hospitals NHS Trust has served the people of Lincolnshire since April 2000. Its wide range of healthcare services are delivered by 7,800 highly trained staff and volunteers, and it has an annual turnover of £360m. The Trust went out to a full OJEU procurement, and, after a very rigorous process, selected Integra over the rest of the competition.
One of the most important aspects of the system for the Trust was e-Procurement, and it was felt that Integra provided a user-friendly and flexible solution with significant potential. Coupled with the newly developed supplier catalogue management tool, it gives the Trust the greatest opportunity to deliver the many benefits associated with electronic Purchase to Pay.
The Trust has participated in the NHS e-enablement group, which is set up to push forward electronic procurement in the NHS, and, as such, it was very important that the Trust selected a system that could demonstrate the ability to deliver now, and to develop quickly as new initiatives are identified.
Eamonn Morris, Capita IB Solutions' Managing Director, said, "This is a significant win, bearing in mind the importance of the Trust's role in leading the NHS initiative with e-Procurement. It demonstrates that Integra is leading the way with new and innovative solutions that will deliver huge benefits across the NHS."

The purpose of the Medical Council is to protect the public in its dealings with medical practitioners. It safeguards the quality of the patient-doctor relationship by supporting and regulating medical practitioners, setting standards for education, training and competence, establishing a Register and investigating complaints against medical practitioners.
The new system for the country's 17,000 doctors to register membership online will help the Medical Council to meet its requirements under Irelands Medical Practitioners Bill 2007, with the objective of protecting and informing the public in its dealings with medical practitioners. The Bill introduced new measures for the registration and control of medical practitioners and has significantly changed the membership and functions of the Medical Council.
Replacing paper-based methods, the new database allows applications to be entered online along with online payments and requests for a Certificate of Good Standing, which doctors need to continue practicing. The iSOFT Business Solutions web-enabled development supports registration, retention, register maintenance, and the online payments processing. The system also features a "my page" facility for individual doctors.
"Capita IB Solutions delivered on its promise of a simplified installation process," said Jim McDermott, Head of IT at the Medical Council. "While we've only been live on the system for a short time, we're starting to see reductions in IT costs and an improved ability to manage our organisation to help meet evolving regulations. Having software systems that help us unify and simplify many complex processes reduces administrative time, which ultimately helps us reduce costs."
"Capita IB Solutions worked closely with the Medical Council throughout this implementation to help deliver a smooth transition to the new system," said Eamonn Morris, Managing Director for Capita IB Solutions. "Moving to a modern, unified system helps public sector organisations improve transparency and processes, which enables them to be more accountable and responsive."

Based in the heart of the Black Country, The Dudley Group of Hospitals NHS Trust provides a wide range of medical, surgical and rehabilitation services to the people of Dudley and surrounding areas. With one inpatient hospital (Russells Hall Hospital) in the centre of Dudley, and two Hospital Outpatient Centres at the Guest and Corbett sites (based in Dudley and Stourbridge respectively), the Trust provides care and treatment for approximately 400,000 people.
A nationwide survey of health organisations, carried out by the Forum of Private Businesses (FPB) found that the Trust's Accounts Payable team was paying the highest percentage of bills within 30 days in the country, with the help of their Integra Electronic Invoicing system from Capita IB Solutions.
"I have always been very proud of the team's efforts in keeping on top of their workloads, and to be formally recognised as the best in the country really emphasises their achievements. The Trust adopts the Better Payment Practice Code, which asks public bodies to pay bills within 30 days, primarily to support local businesses through improved cash flow. In 2008/09, despite processing 45,000 invoices, the team paid 99.9 per cent of invoices within the month," said Heather Taylor, Financial Services Manager at The Dudley Group of Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust.
"The team strives to ensure that all invoices are paid to a timescale, so that the Trust can enjoy a healthy relationship with its suppliers. Other NHS organisations have been in touch with us to ask for ideas that could help them to improve their performance."
Mrs Taylor continues, "The Integra Electronic Invoicing system has enabled us to streamline our processes and dramatically improve efficiency, plus it has automated a number of financial processes which were previously manually intensive, moving towards a more paperless working environment."
Eamonn Morris, Capita IB Solutions' Managing Director, said, "Integra Electronic Invoicing has proven highly successful within NHS Trusts, enabling organisations to enhance and accelerate accounts payable activity. Customers such as The Dudley Group of Hospitals are seeing high invoice-matching rates as a result of using Integra Electronic Invoicing."
Mr Morris continues, "The solution also results in faster invoice transfer, removing the need for manual intervention and resulting in faster, more efficient invoice rotation and improved payment timetables. This gives more streamlined financial management and an improved business relationship between supplier and purchaser."

The NEP Shared Systems Group (NEP), a Consortium of more than 60 NHS Organisations and Capita IB Solutions have successfully achieved an "unqualified opinion" Statement on Auditing Standards (SAS) No. 70 Type II Report for their shared system and managed services operations in the UK.
The SAS 70 examination, conducted by KPMG, included NEP and Capita IB Solutions' internal control processes, procedures and site operations. An "unqualified" auditor's opinion for a SAS 70 Type II report indicates that all control objectives specified by the service organisation were achieved without a significant exception or deficiency.
The examination included the company's controls related to management structure, service level management, information security management, physical security, access to programs & data, operational change management and computer operations.
SAS 70 is designated by the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) as an acceptable method for a user organisation's management to obtain assurance about service organisation's internal controls without conducting separate assessments.
A service auditor's examination performed in accordance with SAS No. 70 (SAS 70 Audit) is widely recognised, because it represents that a service organisation has been through an in-depth audit of their control objectives and control activities, which often include controls over information technology and related processes. A Type II report not only includes the service organisation's description of controls, but also includes detailed testing of the design and operating effectiveness of the service organisation's controls.
Eamonn Morris, Managing Director at Capita IB Solutions, comments "This is a significant achievement for NEP and Capita IB Solutions, gained at our first attempt. We are one of only a few organisations in achieving this report in the UK. It enhances our reputation and is testament to the internal processes and information security controls we have in place. This 'unqualified opinion' should also be of significant encouragement to our existing and prospective customers."
Christine Hall, Associate Programme Director, NEP Shared System Group stated "NEP and Capita IB Solutions have had an extremely successful partnership for more than seven years, working collaboratively to provide our customers with comprehensive innovative financial and procurement solutions. This achievement confirms our commitment to all our members and demonstrates a unique collaborative approach, not only between NEP and Capita IB Solutions, but also sets a benchmark for future working models with our clients' External Auditors. Attaining the SAS 70 accreditation substantially complements the NEP Offering within the NHS."

Capita IB Solutions, market leader in providing world-class financial accounting software, procurement and bespoke solutions to service-centric organisations, today announced that Cork County Council has gone live with its Online Dog Licensing System.
As the local authority for County Cork, the largest County in the Republic of Ireland, Cork County Council has implemented the Online Dog Licensing System to improve the current system and save the Council time and money by streamlining the licensing process.
Recent studies conducted by the Department of the Environment estimated that County Council dog wardens impounded more than 16,000 dogs every year, of which approximately 8,000 were re-housed or reclaimed, and figures produced by the IFA (Irish Farmers’ Association) show that out of a total national dog population of 800,000, just 200,000 are licensed. It has generally been accepted that the current dog control legislation in Ireland needs to be updated to make use of systems like Capita IB Solutions’, Online Dog Licensing System.
The system will allow owners to apply for, pay for and receive their dog licence online within minutes, saving time and money and information is transferred automatically back to the central system doing away with the need to rekey the information.
Derek Kehoe, Director of Sales Ireland at Capita IB Solutions, said: “Cork County Council will save thousands of Euros annually by allowing dog owners to manage their dog licence applications online and also provide a better service to the end-user.”
The system is fully integrated into the Council’s existing Integra financial management system, which is in line with e-Government initiatives, such as providing better services to the customer while improving efficiency.

Capita IB Solutions have been researching and developing new solutions to offer to our customer base over the past few months. As part of this research, Capita IB Solutions announces a new Water System for any party responsible for collecting and recording Water Meter Readings and wishing to provide intelligent data reporting and automated billing. We are able to offer mobile field solutions for the collection of data from the Water Meters for reporting and billing purposes. This enables field staff to electronically identify a water meter by scanning a bar code placed on the meter. This automatically identifies the account to which the meter belongs and the operator simply needs to type in the current meter reading. This solution minimises data entry and reduces the risk of incorrect identification or association of water meters and accounts. Not only do the mobile devices enable the recording and identification of water meters and accounts, they can also be fitted with a GPRS module providing excellent visual aids tools to the user that will enable the reader to work more efficiently. Available at every stage of the recording/billing cycle is a comprehensive range of enquiries and reports. Many of the common enquiries functionality of the water system is being enabled over the web. This allows users in different departments of a Local Authority/Water Company to gain access to water meter accounts to view consumption details and water demands. Utilisation of the Water System can lead to many benefits within your organisation including: • Effective transition and management from fixed to metered accounts • Upload / Remote recording of meter readings • Drill down detail on account and premise details • Ability to have up to date account balance • Wide range of reports highlighting budgetary, estimate and revenue income totals • Upload of information to financial systems In some cases, the authority is choosing to contract out this task of recording meter readings to a third party. In such cases, the Water System will accept information through an external interface from a third party system. This may be through XML, comma-delimited files (.CSV) or ASCII text. At a minimum the information provided from the third-party must include key data to allow the water system to uniquely identify the water meter and what account or customer it belongs to. We can provide services that will enable us to incorporate our specialist web-based design and development skills and enable the very latest use of mobile field technology to gather essential data for reporting purposes. Using our new Business Performance Monitor to customise Key Performance Indicators from our customers’ critical data, we can enable new levels of reporting and alerting for real-time business performance management. Delivery of these projects is in conjunction with Professional and Managed Services to incorporate their expertise to give you a full environmental solution tailored to your needs. This new solution is fully integrated with Integra and can be supported by our Online Payments & Billing System modules if required for our Integra Customers. Capita IB Solutions have been researching and developing new solutions to offer to our customer base over the past few months. For our many Local Authorities we have a new offering for their Environmental Services Division which is our new Waste Monitoring System. We are in the process of working with a number of our customers to help them eliminate continuous data entry into spreadsheets by taking data from its raw source such as: • Weighbridge Data from the Weighbridge Owner • PDA (or manual) Collection Data from the Waste Services Company (Assisted Lifts, Missed Bins) • Street Cleaning Audits – mobile data reporting • Graffiti Audits – mobile data reporting • Bring Site data (history of Bring sites, performance of Bring sites) • Tonnage Statistics for revenue reward • Raise Variation Reporting for contract management Some of this data will be used for KPI reporting to serve the requirements of the BV199 statistics that DEFRA specify for Environmental Protection. We are able to provide automated data import, statistical manipulation and reporting on the same without the need of spreadsheet entry. • Household Management % of total waste recycled. • Recycling tonnage figure - how much is produced (dry waste). • Household composite % of total waste. • Household Waste kilos per head. • % change in kilos per head. As Local Authorities Waste Management Revenue is based on the accuracy of the ‘total recycled tonnage’ reporting, our software has to ensure that management reporting can be produced easily to track performance on an ad-hoc or scheduled basis on all required KPI’s. We are able to include Alerting based on specified data parameters such % on BV199A, BV199B, BV199C and Detritus should they fall above/below the average set by the Government which can change yearly. This enables our customers to make educated decisions about their Waste Management strategy for performance improvement. The Jenkinson Group has awarded the contract for the supply of an enhanced warehousing system to Capita IB Solutions. The Jenkinson Group is an Irish Company operating in the following fields: • Ocean Freight • Road Freight • Air Freight • Warehousing/Logistics • Supply-Chain management With warehouses in Dublin, Cork, Shannon and overseas they offer facilities which include: • Pick-and-Pack • De-trashing • Vendor Hubbing • Sampling • Labelling The system is capable of receiving requests for picks or returns electronically and automatically processing the details. Multiple pick strategies are available for each customer. Pick lists, pack lists, labels and delivery reports are also produced. Emails or ASCII files can also be issued to the customer automatically when goods are received, picked and/or delivered. Picks may also be batched according to the delivery type in order to allow prioritization and optimum usage of assembly areas for packing. The system can also suggest how best to pack for delivery, based on available empty cartons of various sizes for the customer (particularly useful for small goods). Picks can also be confirmed in bulk (i.e. only the exceptions need to be entered). The system also caters for tracking of consignment stock and email notification to vendors regarding goods issued from the warehouse. A full history of pick, product and location activity is maintained in the system which can be viewed in drill-down mode. Spreadsheets and/or reports containing stock information may also be scheduled and issued automatically to the customer via email. Functionality is provided for stock put-away (PC or hand held devices), cycle counting, transfer of stock, quarantining and recording of stock exceptions, etc. The system is highly parameterized and can operate in different ways for individual warehouse customers, if required. The system also allows the customers access via the web to check on the stocks available and their current status. “We wanted to provide our customers with a better service whereby they could not only send their requests electronically but also allow them to track the status of the items via the web.”, explains Leo Layden, Head of IT at Jenkinson. The Institute of Public Administration (IPA) has awarded Capita IB Solutions the contract for the supply and implementation of its Business Performance Monitor which will provide information on how the organisation is performing across both the Operational and Finance aspects of its business. Integra Business Performance Monitor (IBPM) has been introduced to provide pro active reporting of business critical information. IBPM enables key financial and statistical data to be monitored on line within the Integra application, notifying users electronically if predefined criteria or tolerances have been met. IBPM allows for the ongoing management of all data held within the Integra application suite, as well as third party data that has been either uploaded to the system or is available through third party ODBC. It covers areas such as: • Liquidity • Course Bookings • Cost Earning Ratio • Satisfaction Surveys • Business Unit Performance • Advance bookings The system offers full flexibility in the creation of Performance Indicators. Users can select each area to be monitored and define minimum and maximum warning alert levels. Each statistic within the KPI can be monitored and managed independently; if the predefined criteria are met an electronic alert can be sent to designated users. Parameters allow various display options to be set. This ensures that although full monitoring of data is occurring, users are only informed if the alert level is reached. KPI alerts are available through e-mails and Integra eSeries providing relevant information in an intuitive format. About IPA The Institute of Public Administration is the Irish national centre for development and best practice in public administration and public management. The Institute provides training and education, research and publication services to the public sector.
